San Diego is at a crossroads. We need a leader who understands we can do better. A leader who is willing to fight for democracy, small businesses, and the safety of its citizens. Someone who believes in the American Dream and wants to give you the tools and freedom to achieve your full potential. As a small business owner Fernando understands the risks and rewards of turning an idea into reality. San Diego is currently governed by politicians who care more about their political party rather than the people of San Diego. Join Fernando in making San Diego live up to its motto as “Americas Finest City”.

As a father, husband, and small business owner Fernando has been committed to making his community a better place to live. His values were formed by his immigrant mother and Vietnam Veteran father. His father is a retired postal worker, and his mother is a retired RN nurse. He saw his parents work hard every day to give him a better life.

At 18 Fernando left home to attend San Diego State University where he received a B.S. in Criminal Justice. After college he started a career in financial services and real estate. In 2017 he decided to leave his corporate job to start his own company, Schools Solar. He started his own solar company because of his belief in climate change and the opportunity for citizens to own their own energy source. His company alone has saved the planet an estimated 2,000,000 pounds of CO2 per year.

Fernando also serves in many different community organizations. He is a member of the San Diego Association of Realtors and sits on the housing opportunity committee. He is an active member with Represent US San Diego which fights to fix our election process and stop political bribery. He is also a member of the Kensington Talmadge Business Association.

Fernando has volunteered with many local organizations through out the years. He has coached pop warner football, AYSO soccer, and high school rugby. He was also a Court Appointed Special Advocate where he helped foster youth transition into adult hood.

Fernando is a resident of the Kensington Community. He is married to his wife Cynthia who is a San Diego County Social Worker. He also has 2 sons, Alexander and Joshua. His oldest son Alexander is a graduate of UC Berkeley and has a Masters Degree is Economics from Purdue University. Alexander currently lives in the Bay Area as a Treasury Analyst.
